Owners Reviews

What our customers have to say...

Bob Diehl, owner: Diehler, SC 52 #9

If you have been following the Valisle 360 news, you know that it was just a fantastic regatta. They have been updating their web site with final results and news. We did very well in the variable (small boat favored) conditions. DIEHLER was definitely the center of attraction as far as "nice boat" is concerned. People were amazed at the comfort we enjoyed and the speed we sailed. The weather on the outside was rainy and foggy and we traveled in style. (dry and comfortable every night) The cameraman sailed with us on one of the long legs and slept with us two nights (he knew a great boat when he saw it). We and a trimaran were the only two boats that sailed to finish all the legs. To bad the time ran out on the other "horizoned" boats! More fun that a group of adults should really have! Thanks Santa Cruz for the super boat!

Dick Rosic, owner: Ariel, SC 52 #6
Dana Point, CA:

I have owned a variety of boats and must admit, as much as I liked my other boats, the SC 52 brings me the most pleasure, whether it be sailing with a group of friends, with my friend Elizabeth, or sitting at a mooring. At risk of sounding like a commercial, I will say that the boat is easy to handle, fun to be on, systems are simple, and maintenance is easy.

Jeff Monger, co-owner: Clark Kent,
SC 52 #1 Chicago, IL:

Since this our third boat from Santa Cruz, we had a lot of input into the development of this boat. The execution of the design is outstanding. We've sailed and raced her lots of miles. It's a very tough boat; she can pass whatever test you put her to. We've sailed her at a sustained 17+ knots with peaks pushing 20+ knots under a 1.5 oz spinnaker and a full main with 30+ knots true wind.

Robert Flowerman, boat manager for Silver Bullet,
SC 52 #7 and professional race boat skipper:

We went out to sea from Ft. Lauderdale last March with two people who had never been out to sea and experienced conditions that included both small craft warnings and gales and the boat was a joy to sail. I could sit here and think of a hundred superlatives about the boat and they'd all be true. The Santa Cruz 52 is strong, comfortable, easy to maintain, very seakindly , and quick. With an autopilot, it's an ideal single-hander's boat. It's a racing sailor's dream cruise boat.

Bill Turpin, co-owner: Ingrid, SC 52 #2
Santa Cruz, CA:

What can I say about the Santa Cruz 52? I love it! The thing I really like about is that it is a fast, high-performance boat, but when the race is over, it's a great place to be. I mean, how many other race boats--winning race boats, at that--have a watermaker, a microwave, and two heads with a shower in each?

What really strikes me is that this boat is a boat of many uses. You can keep up with your power boating friends; it will motor as fast as most trawlers. But when the wind comes up, you can put up the sails and run away from them. I took a crew of two friends up the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia in mid-February and we were truly comfortable aboard the boat, despite outside temperatures hovering around the freezing mark. We were warm below, prepared gourmet meals in the galley, and enjoyed invigorating hot showers on the transom at sunrise. My wife and I do a lot of cruising aboard her, too, and it's really easy for two people to sail. I like the boat more each time I use it.

Robert Mann, co-owner: Ingrid, SC 52 #2
Santa Cruz, CA:

The Santa Cruz 52 is a unique boat. I've never seen another boat that will do all the things this boat will do--and it looks good! It's nimble and will do anything you ask of it. It hangs on to the [Santa Cruz] 70s going to weather and saves its time off the wind. With the wind in the 35 knot range, under full main and spinnaker, you will consistently sail over 20 knots with full control and comfort.
